Applied Arts skills
Graphic Arts Skill | Applied Arts Diploma Program at MADE
MADE maintains the philosophy that a well-rounded fine art education in the 21st century must include graphic art skills as well as traditional art skills. To that end, the Applied Arts curriculum includes an introduction to the field of Graphic Design with hands-on training in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Coursework addresses typography, layout, logo design, digital illustration, and image manipulation in projects that broach the basic concepts of branding and advertising.
The teaching of graphic arts supports and complements the student’s overall artistic growth. Training in drawing makes the student more effective in producing vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator. Painting skills enhance the student’s ability to manipulate colors and textures digitally in Adobe Photoshop. And vice versa, the editing and compositional skills acquired in the graphic arts classes augment the student’s fine art portfolio development. The outcome is multi-dimensional artists who have a plethora of technical skills at their disposal and who are capable of producing effective visual solutions to a variety of creative problems.
