The attraction to expand to Miami after opening stores throughout the West Coast, Portland, New York and Chicago was based on the central location and the artsy, hip vibe of the Wynwood area. The attraction of street art, cafes, events and galleries bring the residents to the Art District more often and have made the location a tourist attraction. Most buildings are one story with street level windows. The visual designers create window displays that grab the attention of the hip passerby’s. This is a “fun in the streets” type of town, making it perfect for a store offering custom t-shirts and t-shirt dresses. Wynwood caters to private owned retailers and away from big box retail.
Around the corner from Marine Layer on 2399 NW 2nd Avenue we will be seeing Detroit-based Shinola, opened by the founder of the well known brand, Fossil. This will be the first Southeasten store for the retailer selling upscale leather goods, watches, bicycles, funky pet items and more. Next to Shinola we will be seeing Illesteva, carrying designer eyewear and accessories.
After strolling through the streets and shops be sure to visit the latest home of fine cuisine to hit the Wynwood streets. GK Bistronomie, a Peruvian seafood restaurant will be opening at 218 NW 25th Street. There is no grand opening date for GK Bistronomie yet and the renovations are still in the works.
