Spatial Planning Skills | Interior Design at Miami Arts Design
The primary focus of interior design studies at MADE is a practical and theoretical grasp of spatial design. Spatial design is the study of environmental factors that facilitate human experience. The principles of spatial design link physical properties of architecture to human psychology and behavior. It is a top-down creative process, beginning with a definition of the ethical and cultural outcome of a place then working inwards towards the architectural skeleton that will support that outcome. The process involves visualizing the flow and function of people within a space and predicting potential challenges.
Concepts of spatial design are reinforced throughout the Interior Design program at MADE, giving students a platform from which to hone their personal vision and mission as designers. Students will discover how to apply the design elements to their spatial planning and design concepts, considering different furniture layouts to suit the intended function of the space. Through designing spaces that enhance social, professional and personal experiences, interior designers make a lasting impact on our society.
